Every year, under the direction of a professional director or a choreographer, the Accademia Dimitri creates a new work at the end of its bachelor of arts in theater training. This brand new performance will be taken on tour during the whole Summer.
The creation 2023 sees the prestigious signature of dancer, director and choreographer Cristiana Morganti.
“The portrait of a group of young artists and performers who are on the verge of separating to pursue their individual paths: a flock about to disperse. Dreams, relationships, clashes, disappointments, hopes, but also a light-hearted reflection on the word of theater. An ironic and authentic look at the dynamics of a group, always attentive to the potential of each individual performer. A performance in which explosions of energy translate into engaging dance moments, reminiscent of the contagious joy of Folklore dances, and where poetic rituals alternate with short and light theatrical moments.
A montage of scenes and situations in which the spectator can easily identify and perhaps even take flight at the end …”

WITHOUT WORDS, BUT STILL SUCCINCT
A lot of topics, a load of feelings and few words. It is difficult to find any words that would capture the Young Birds production in its complexity. Nevertheless, I will try to briefly summarize the enchanting experience that I had the opportunity to witness. A flock of people in which the overall mosaic is represented by the talent, dreams and self-expression of each individual. The first attempts of young birds to take off were motivated by the joy of creating and love of movement. However, it was gradually replaced by fear of imperfection, initial failures and criticism. Searching for courage, deviating from the majority, accepting it, but also rejecting it, all these were the themes of this production, the dance treatment of which was literally breathtaking.
Each of the artists performed a number of challenging choreographies, which reflected their personality, desires, but also traumas and disappointments.
However, the diversity of the flock was not only highlighted by the variety of dance creations, but also by the expression and acting performances. In addition to the phenomenal dance and movement performances, the biggest positive of the production was also the original take on the themes, which is also in talk in several festival discussions.
One great idea followed another, and the joke was never left alone.
The determination and ease with which the performance was danced and acted out were literally contagious and the good mood dominated the entire theatre.
However, in my case, the joy of a great experience was replaced by concerns about how to summarize something so inspiring in a few sentences that should convey the atmosphere and experience to people who were not lucky enough to sit in the audience and wiggle in their chairs along with the performers.
